Killin' it: Electric blue

I have a new obsession. It kind of just came out of nowhere..... like most of mine do. I decided on electric blue Lita's from Jeffrey Campbell for christmas and then got an electric blue manicure and then saw Kat Von D's new blue do, and it was all over. Electric blue is my new thing. Now to be clear, it's a very specific blue... it's a rich-vibrant-royal-almost-cobalt-neonish-blue. Is that clear? Absolutely no hints of green, or purple! Pure blue. As Kat would call it, indigo blue. The following is just a few examples of why this color is KILLING it (in my head at least). I also have to mention, I'm wearing all blue tomorrow for our xmas celebrations:) dont care. pictures will follow.

Oh and I have one more thing........
Where can I find one of these scarf hoods! Or do I need to make one.?
One of the most stylish little ladies I work with, Mackenzie, was wearing one today and oh was I jealous. Where Mackenzie, where?

Steals and deals: Tis the season for under $100...

Before you grab the sexiest, shiniest little number for your next holiday/new years eve party this year, let's mix it up! Do you really want to look like every other girl in the room? Or a Kardashian? Or a mannequin in the window of a bebe store?

Let's take some holidays staples, that should never be tampered with, and then press shuffle.
FOR (almost) ALL UNDER $100!!
*Lace
*Sequins
*Satin
*Black
*Red
*Fur
*Blazer/dressy coat

Sexy yet masculine!
Black fitted blazer, keep it on the longer side
Chunky statement necklace, or layer a bunch of different ones together
Sexy bralets from Topshop to add a pop of color or texture
Lace bell bottoms (kinda hard to find- DIY, see post below)
Any fun platforms! I'm obsessed with the Lita platforms, but they're a bit spendy... :/

Romantic Goddess
Nude satin dress, looks best not too tight and very flowy. Grecian style!
Black lace anklets look amazing under any shoe!
Pumps, you can do in any color... but there's just something about burgundy
Layer statement cuffs, these two are my favorite from Topshop
I'm not into matchy match, but it's always classy to match your shoes with your lips and nails:)
If you don't usually wear red, try burgundy! you'll like!
Sequin beret here

Snow Bunny
Floral burnout dress from Free People, you could also switch this up with a crushed velvet dress!
Heart tights from Urban Outfitters layered under black anklets. Makes it almost look like you have ankle boots on! Fun look, try it!
Peeptoe velvet platforms from Asos, LOVE
Don't like wearing hats? Try a turban! And to make it festive, add sequins.
Fingerless gloves, and they're cashmere, AND they're only $38!
Any jacket with fur accents completes this look. You could even do a full on fur jacket!
These lace earrings from sense of fashion remind me of the holidays, but you can wear them with
ANYTHING!

Ultra Glam
Asymmetrical satin maxi dress from Asos, perfect for a black tie holiday party
Pair it with a simple black patent pump (platform of course) These Sam Edelman's are comfy!
To mix it up a little, I threw in a black and gold beaded corset belt...that way you can do gold accessories like the sparkle clutch and the emerald drop earrings that are gold backed. Angelina Jolie wore earrings like these at the oscars, and I never got over them. Don't wear too much jewelry when you're going ultra glam, you'll just start to look like you're trying to hard.
The lace gloves take it a step further if you're up for it...

I want to see your holiday looks! Post a link in the comments below!

Look of the day:

This is what I wore out last night to Dillions Irish Pub on Hollywood blvd. Sorry for the jenky iPhone pic, but like I've said before, I'm forced to take my own pictures.. I made these lace bell bottoms, and I'm completely obsessed with them. Comfortable, stretchy, extra long for my usual platforms and bell bottoms! I don't know if I'll ever be able to wear skinny jeans again. They're fairly easy to make if you can work a sewing machine. Comment below if you want to know how to make 'em!

Nirvana off the shoulder shirt- Chaser,  red cross necklace- Wonderland Gallery,  Black Label Society bracelet- BLS concert,  huge stud bracelet- Forever 21,  long skull necklace- melrose flee market (brand: flee market girl), peep toe suede platforms- Steve Madden

Wish List: Velvet burnout fringed jacket

Where can I find one of these? I keep seeing them everywhere (on the internet), but I'm having a hard time finding a good one, for a good price. Spanish Moss has the best selection, but a lot of them are sold out... not fair. If you spot one, buy it and send it to my address, thanks:) no but seriously..... help!

I think this one was on Ebay

I love the 20's/90's/relaxing in my boudoir with a scotch -look! Sexy. I see it paired with huge bellbottoms and platforms.

Random: Just thought I'd share

I can't help but re-post this from the CoCoPerez website because I completely agree with it! I apologize to those who don't, but if you don't, you may need to look at what you're finding "hot" these days and why.. don't be a drone.

Look of the day:

Until I get a quality camera and/or my boyfriend can take a decent picture.... I'll have to share my outfits of the day digitally. Enjoy

Blazer- Foreign Exchange (old)
Cardigan- Urban Outfitters (old)
Leather high waisted shorts- Forever 21
Thigh waist belt- H&M
(I wore) thigh high grey socks- American Apparel
(I wore) booties- Forever 21
Scarf- Forever 21
Armor knuckle ring- Forever 21
Cross ring- Silver Connection
Spike ring- H&M
Onyx ring- David Yurman
Snake ring- Silver Connection (on wilshire)

I love this outfit because it's warm and layered, yet professional looking. The thigh high boots make it sexy for a night on the town, but if you were to wear this to the office, I would suggest getting rid of the shorts and wearing leggings. OR wearing a pencil skirt and pumps! I'm really digging belts over jackets (or cardigans) right now, but to be honest, I'm still trying to get it right... you can ruin the look with the wrong belt or the wrong cut jacket!!

Killin' it: DIY blogs I'm DIYing over

I've always been a crafty lady; painting, sewing, cutting, gluing.  And I love getting a designer look on my not designer budget. Sooo..... I take inspiration from these talented ladies, and you should too!

Shredding and chains, couldn't look cooler
This is where you can learn how from Shini at Park & Cube

Two very easy DIY's that are very stylish:) No sewing needed.
Learn how here at A Pair and a Spare

This woman is amazing! I am immediately going to try both of these! The look tedious and time consuming, but I don't care:) If you're up for a challenge check out cocorosa!

A couple of randoms I really want to try as well! I like the skeletal-look of the top pic and the Victoria Beckham bra-look of the bottom pic.

How to wear: Dark lipstick

Another installment of how to wear... dark dark dark lipstick! Whether it's deep plum or pure black, I think it's hot! The only thing is, it's hard to wear. >>
1. Wear minimal eye makeup, just big lashes and a swoop of eyeliner
2. If you want to do a dramatic eye as well, make it neutral shades
3. A bold shaped eyebrow goes great!
4. Make sure you use a good foundation and powder- looks best with clean, perfect skin
5. A little blush will keep you from looking pure goth. Unless you wanna look pure goth, then that's cool with me:)
6. Buy a quality brand, trust me. Usually, I'd go for the steal, but not in this case! I tried using my $1.00 black lipstick from halloween and it's dryer than shit and cracked off right away..
7. Sleek hair also looks best, but that's up to your discretion
8. I hate to say this but if you have really thin lips, this look is probably not for you.
9. Wear a killer outfit!

No...

YES!!

IN/OUT: Who's doin' it right? Who's drowning?

The late 90's, early 2000's (mainly 1999 and 2000) was a interesting year for fashion.

This weird, akward mini-mini-era when Usher filled the radio and teen drama/comedies like; "You Drive Me Crazy" and "She's All That" were 'PHAT', so were Britney Spears, Christina Aguilaria and Mischa Barton! These ladies flourished... but now.......... not so much. I hate doing this to these lovely ladies, but your time is over, please pass the torch, make room for REAL style icons. I'm sick of seeing Christina's orange skin, Britney's nasty weave and Mischa's... well just Mischa in general. This segment is called IN/OUT.

And as for the IN girls? The IT girls? The most recent style icons that everyone is swooning over?

Rumi Neely- model, blog-fashiontoast
Olivia Palmero- socialite, model, actress- "The City"
Blake Lively- actress- "Gossip Girl" which I have never seen
(disclaimer- Now Blake Lively is on the list, and remain on the list, unless I find evidence that she has a stylist. As of now, she claims she doesn't....)

I mean, obviously there's Kate Moss, the Olsen twins, Chloe Sevigny, Kristin Reiter, Lady Gaga, Caroline Blomst, Gwen Stefani, and many others! But I feel these three ladies are the most eclectic and relatable style icons of 2010! I keep hearing people call Beyonce, Taylor swift, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Alba, Vanessa Hudgens and Katy Perry style icons. C'mon people. If you have a 24/7 stylist, you can't be a style icon. Even if your personal style doesn't exactly match these three icons, even my own style is much more dark than theirs, we can still pull from the rules they teach us. Some of the things I've learned? Mix and match! Edgy with feminine. Ripped jean shorts with tights, a belt OVER a jacket, boxy on top, tight and fitted on the bottom. Anything is possible as long as it works.

Before leaving, I do have to mention that I too once had an angora argyle sweater and a silver metallic hat from Contempo Casual. !

Look of the day:

This is a really shitty picture of these Rick Owens knock off's that I made.. I loved them so much, but couldn't afford them, so I brought out the old sewing machine! They're skinny jeans that zip open to bell bottoms. Awesome looking, but were pretty hard to make! This pic is taken at a really dark concert, so I had to lighten it up a ton, thus the shitty picture quality:/ Hope you like, let me know if you want to know how to make them..

Wishlist: or should I say X-mas list?

These are the items I currently fancy.
At first I saw these these and thought hell no. But they're growing on me, fast.

Love the detailing and color of this jacket! you can't really tell, but it has exposed seems and this faded grid-like pattern. Not to mention the drape front, tight sleeves and hoodie!

This is from my favorite shopping site nastygal! Marled see-through knits are hot and I'm also obsessed with curved hems. Probably always will be.

I'm searching everywhere for the perfect/affordable blazer. This one is almost perfect, but it's also McQueen and $655... I prefer one with puffy, or structured shoulders, cinched at the waist then flares out and waist length. Help!

Baggy, see through, velvet details and fringe:)
This is by a line called American Gold. Unfortunately, almost everything is sold out.

I dreamt about these, I think. Been loving them since they were black, blue, red, and now glitter?? Get outta town! JC glitter lita's

velvet draped jacket. Don't need to say much..

Aaaand every single piece from Rick Owens.

Absolutely not. Ever.

I feel like I should apologize in advance for this, but I don't think I will because blogs are purely opinion and not fact, right? So instead I will be issuing a warning. Warning, this style blog post called "absolutely not. ever." is where I will be ripping on a current fashion trend that I think is truly horrific. You obviously don't have to agree, and if you don't, feel free to comment and try to change my mind! do it.

High fashion Disney is what I call this look...

This is actually a cute shirt, especially the cut! Faded mickey mouse pattern and his signature on my chest, no thanks. This shirt says, cheap.

Again with this bag. I don't mind the silhouette, but they're trying to look fashionable and it just reads diaper bag.

"he he. look at me I'm cute like minnie." ugh.

This is a line called "Disney Couture" littering up some of my favorite shopping sites, like 80's Purple. This necklace makes me cringe, but I do have to say they have other stuff that may be acceptable.

Again. OK cut, completely ruined. Not that we should dress for men, but really, single ladies out there are not attracting any man meat with a mickey shirt and shiny leggings.
